Compensation

Our compensation philosophy recognizes that people drive profitability and competitive advantage and our compensation program is based on two principles:

• The Market:  our pay is competitive when measured against the appropriate set of peer companies in the markets served.
• Performance:  pay is linked to individual and company performance, depending on an employee’s role and level, and the performance of the company.

The three components of our compensation are:  base salary, merit and incentives.  Eligibility for incentives depends on an employee’s job and level in the organization.  As employees progress within Jack Link’s Beef Jerky, incentives play a greater role in their overall compensation.

  CSP Retailer Choice Best New Product

Jack Link’s Beef Jerky won in the 2009 CSP Retailer Choice Best New Product Contest. MATADOR by Jack Link’s Snack Stick was a winner in the Meat Snacks category, voted on by customers, and is now recognized as one of the convenience retailing channel’s best new products of 2009.

Minimum Qualifications

• Four Year college degree
• 10 Years direct selling experience dealing with national Drug accounts primarily CVS and Walgreens, preferably in the Grocery category.
• Broker management experience.
• Category management expertise, fact based planning and selling.
• Strong written and oral skills.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration skills in the development of both short & long-term category strategies
• Goal oriented & well organized
• Excellent interpersonal skills needed for working in a team environment
• Strong analytical skills (specifically able to identify trends, opportunities and business insight)

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in Business, Engineering, Food Science or other related field.
• Minimum of one (1) year of experience working in a manufacturing environment required as a support/staff role.
• Experience or education in Statistical Process Control, root-cause analysis and / or other analytical methods.

Minimum Job Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline required
• 3+ years Staff Management experience required. Ability to lead others through change and building people capability.
• 5+ years CPG and/or Food & Beverage engineering experience required with experience in a FSIS Inspected Meat Processing Plant preferred.
• Engineering leadership in a food processing and packaging manufacturing environment.
• Experience with refrigeration systems, plant utility systems, smokehouse, vacuum packaging material handling systems desired.  Multivac or Tiromat experience a plus.
• Excellent verbal/written communication skills.
• Possess excellent analytical problem solving and trouble-shooting abilities
• Preferred skills include background with Six Sigma, TPS, ISO, TPM, and Lean Manufacturing initiatives
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Project, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and AutoCad. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Work, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

Desirable Qualifications:

• Implementer of Continuous Improvement (CI) Processes related to manufacturing engineering.

The duties and responsibilities of the Plant Manager shall consist of, but not be limited to, the following:

• Develop and maintain a culture of continuous improvement in Safety, Quality, Cost, Productivity and Employee engagement enabling world class manufacturing performance
• Responsible for establishing and maintaining the annual budget with the plant controller, ensure appropriate resources are available to achieve the sales forecast and profit expectations..
• Responsible for providing a reasonable working environment that safeguards the safety of all production and maintenance personnel. Ensures personnel are knowledgeable in OSHA rules, regulations and GMP's, and that all production on-site employee accidents are documented according to company policy.  Manage and supervise the activities and performance of the New Glarus, WI Plant Safety/ WC Manager.
• Maintains close communication with Human Resources Manager to ensure policies, practices and procedures are administered in a consistent fair manner.  Authorizes and approves employee reviews, status and pay changes, discipline, and security changes.
• Maintains close communication with the Quality Manager to keep current with any quality issues and make necessary procedural changes as required.
• Maintains close communication with Purchasing, Customer Service and Transportation Departments to keep current with any sales, vendor or logistic issues.
• Authorizes to hire, terminate and/or change the duties of assigned personnel, in cooperation with the Assistant Plant Manager and Human Resources.  This includes additional staffing or new positions.
• In cooperation with Assistant Plant Manager, periodically evaluates production equipment and makes recommendations for repair/replacement or new equipment and submits capital requests as necessary.
• Establish and maintain employee morale and community relations.
• Participates in and supports, company sponsored educational and training programs as requested; recommending training programs to ensure that staff is well aware of their duties, authority & responsibility.
• Provides expertise, guidance and support by assisting the reporting managers to this position, in the formulation, development and implementation of efficient policies and procedures.
• Supports and enforces company guidelines, policies, procedures, and work rules in a consistent manner.  Demonstrating good judgment and reasoning when investigating and solving problems; showing ability to tactfully handle difficult situations.
• Completes performance evaluations on those reporting to this position as specified by the company policy. Is responsible for and oversees that Department Managers complete evaluations timely as outlined in the company policy, to those reporting to them.
• Consistently shows ability to anticipate, recognize, & deal with changing situations, obstacles, & priorities in a positive manner.
• Is flexible to work hours beyond and/or outside regular schedule to ensure proper coverage for the position when needed. 
• Performing duties in an independent manner with minimal direction.
• Performs other duties and responsibilities as necessary.

REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s degree in management, engineering, food science or other appropriate field and more than five years experience in facility management in a food manufacturing environment, meat experience strong preference.
