Larry Dahlberg began his professional fishing career at age 11 as a fly fishing guide for Smallmouth Bass on the Upper St. Croix River bordering Minnesota and Wisconsin. Since then, his love of fishing has led to many adventures out in the wild outdoors.  We've been involved with Larry and his show for awhile now and we're proud to be associated with such a skilled sportsmanand such a great program.

About Larry Dahlberg

Here's a quick glance at Larry Dahlberg's career. Learn about where this great Midwestern fisherman has been and some of his favorite catches.

Larry Dahlberg has turned his love of fishing into a lifelong career. Over a half century and 80 odd countries later, he’s currently the host of The Hunt For Big Fish on VS Network, now in its 18th season.

He has fished every ocean and most major rivers, including the Amazon, Orinoco, Parana, Nile, and Zambezi. He loves both fresh and saltwater fishing; claiming Muskie, Tarpon, Smallmouth, Steelheads, Tiger fish, Golden Dorado, Blue Marlin and Atlantic Salmon as his favorite species. Fly fishing and live baiting are his two preferred methods, with lures following a very close second.

Throughout his fishing career, Larry has received numerous awards:

  • Inducted into the Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame in 1996
  • Presented the prestigious Conservation Award from the International Game Fish Association (IGFA) in 1999
  • Recipient of the coveted Henshall Award by the Federation of FlyFisherman in 1990
  • Winner of numerous OWAA awards for his work in television and video
  • Twice nominated for the ACE awards

FlyFisherman magazine editor John Randolph referred to Larry as "the most successful 'big fish' fly fisherman who has ever lived" and he has been described by many as the best all around angler in the world.
