Rd. 2 of ISOC/AMSOIL Snocross - the 20th annual AMSOIL Duluth National - goes to Ross Martin!

Final day at Spirit Mountain is all Martin as the Wisconsin racer pulls the Stud Boy Holeshot and runs away with the second round, Kody Kamm wins Pro Lights.

DULUTH, Minn. - Nov. 27, 2011 - With a monster start followed by a smooth, calculated and hyper-fast 20 laps, Wisconsin's Ross Martin, Team Judnick and sponsored by Jack Link’s Beef Jerky, raced his Polaris to victory in the Pro Open class at the second round of the AMSOIL Duluth National as Spirit Mountain - the 2011-'12 season's first weekend stop on the ISOC AMSOIL Championship Snocross Series tour. Joining Martin on the Pro Open podium was fellow Polaris pilot TJ Gulla (Hentges Racing) in 2nd place and Monster Energy/Arctic Cat's Tucker Hibbert - the three-time defending Duluth National champ - in 3rd.

And in ACSS Pro Lights class racing Wisconsin's Kody Kamm complete the Polaris sweep of the top two podium spots in Duluth, topping Saturday winner Petter Narsa (Ski-Doo/Jimmy John's) in 2nd and 3rd place racer John Stenberg (Ski-Doo/Bauerly Racing).

In the Pro Open finals Martin got out of the gate on a rail, pulling the $500 Stud Boy Holeshot and leading the 15 of the world's top pro snowmobile racers through the first turn and into the early lead. In Martin's wake a massive wreck in the tricky downhill rhythm section collected Justin Broberg (Ski-Doo) and Brett Bender (Polaris), slowing a number of riders caught in the mess - including Hibbert.

As the carnage slowly cleared, Martin led Gulla, Johan Lidman (Arctic Cat) and a fast Tim Tremblay (Ski-Doo) - the day's No. 2 qualifier - through the opening lap. A mechanical issue on lap two would dog Tremblay, who pulled off the track in disgust. As Martin opened up on the rest of the field - including Gulla and Lidman - Hibbert put his head down and clocked in with a couple of the fastest mid-race laps of the day, including a low 33-second effort on lap eight.

When the crossed green and white flags at the finish line signaled the midway point of the race (ten laps to go), Hibbert had passed Lidman and moved into podium position. But his spirited charge at the lead would end up right there as Martin and Gulla rode equally strong, keeping the charging Hibbert at bay through the checkers.

"It's been an awesome weekend," said Martin, who also won a cool $10K in Friday's inaugural AMSOIL DOMINATOR®. "We were prepared ... and I couldn't have done it without this team."

Added Gulla: "A few things happened ... but racin's racin. Glad to be back up on the podium like old times."
Note: Saturday's AMSOIL Duluth National Pro Open main event winner Robbie Malinoski (Ski-Doo/AMSOIL) did not transfer to Sunday's main event out of the qualifiers.

In the Pro Light main event Kamm was able to get up front early in the 12 lap contest, leading Dylan Martin (Ski-Doo), Narsa and Stenberg. Martin would bobble on the uphill section and lose his tether (cutting the motor on his sled), allowing Kamm, Narsa and Stenberg to separate. And while Narsa would make a charge on Kamm, lapped traffic would cause him to leave the track on turn three late in the contest as Kamm put the hammer down for the win.

"Yesterday I had some bad luck, finished 14th," said Kamm. "Today I got the win and I'm pretty pumped with that."

Also on Sunday ... The women pro/am racers took to the track at the AMSOIL Duluth National on Sunday. The podium included: 1st - Jennifer Pare (Polaris); 2nd - Wakenda Peters (Arctic Cat); 3rd Kendra Dallmann (Polaris) ... slight bobble in the coverage yesterday stating that Robbie Malinoski was from Minnesota. And while he actually is a U.S. citizen, he was born in Canada ... Finally, the little guys (ages 6-12) on the 120cc sleds ran the same track the pros did, with and Arctic Cat sweep featuring Reid Runkel in 1st, John Langass in 2nd and Evan Christian in 3rd.
