The origins of National Jerky Day can be traced all the way back to the 1880s, when a humble German settler named Chris Link settled in America. Chris didn’t bring much when he planted his roots in the north woods of Wisconsin, but he did have his family’s recipes for sausage and smoked meat. With these, his shop became well-known across the state.

Fast forward several generations, and you arrive at Jack Link, who first made jerky with his great-grandfather’s recipes in the 1980s.
